(You can never have enough lettuce and greens).

Carolyn - you are correct that now is garlic planting time.

Bridget - I have heard of people using their cars to dehydrate tomatoes, etc. I wonder if you could put your lettuce in a paper bag once it blooms and let it dry there? If you get some warm, sunny days it just might work.Joanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12874041763887442603noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8326134256144421366.post-62879414093663653442011-10-18T09:58:32.785-07:002011-10-18T09:58:32.785-07:00Brill that you saved so many different seeds. Tomato seeds ...That's quite a seed collection! Tomato seeds are the ones we always save! It's a little messy, and the seeds take a while to prepare, but we've managed to keep our favorite, Russian Persimmon, going for quite a few years now just on saved seed. Also managed to save seed from a unique sport, where a traditionally red tomato produced a plant with all orange fruits instead. Through seed saving, we've now stabilized it, and it now always produces orange tomatoes. I think the best part of seed saving is that it helps us as gardeners to hang on to varieties that might not be in 'fashion' with seed companies. Not to mention, it's just plain fun!Curbstone Valley Farmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06714297348566721344noreply@blogger.com
